Our club is associated with TAIE, Takemusu Iwama Aikido Europe. We train every Tuesday from 18:30 to 20:00. Some members also like to complement their training on Thursday and Sunday at the Martial Weapon Academy, which is also part of the same organisation.
Takemusu (武産) is a Japanese expression and core spiritual concept in Aikido that refers to the development of martial qualities through hard practice:
Take: "Take" is the same Japanese character as the "Bu" in Bushido, meaning martial
Musu: Means "innocent", "naive", "birth", "nativity", and "creation"
Ai: Means "joining", "unifying", "combining", and "fitting"
Ki: Means "spirit", "energy", "mood", and "morale"
Takemusu is a concept used by Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, to describe his vision of the ultimate martial art. It expresses how Aikido harmonises movements and allows for the spontaneous execution of thought-free techniques.
Takemusu is also said to represent the maturation of a person's relationship with themselves, others, and society. It's a spiritual development that embraces humanity in its entirety.
